strategic steps to weight management

Naturopathic Treatments For Weight Loss In Hamilton

My weight management program takes a holistic and individualized approach, focusing on several factors influencing successful weight loss including metabolism, hormonal balance, and digestion. Through strategies such as nutrition guidance, lifestyle support, precise exercise recommendations and targeted supplementation, I help you create sustainable changes that easily fit into your lifestyle. The goal is not just weight loss, but improved body composition, energy and long-term wellness.

Have you ever felt like no matter what diet you try or how many hours you spend at the gym, you just can’t lose the weight? Or despite all your efforts to channel your ‘willpower’, your cravings overpower you every single time? Or perhaps you have achieved success with weight loss in the past, only to regain the weight quicker than you lost it.

I want you to understand that this is not your fault. There are several root causes that we need to address to ensure long term, sustained success with weight loss. For example, it is important to understand if there are any underlying conditions that could be interfering with weight loss such as polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), hypothyroidism, or digestive health concerns. Hormonal shifts may also play a role in difficulty losing weight such as insulin resistance, imbalances in cortisol (a stress hormone), and the major hormonal changes that occur during perimenopause or menopause. It is also important to assess your baseline body composition and metabolic rate. Using this information, I can eliminate all the guesswork and create a precise nutrition and exercise plan that delivers real results.

About Our Hamilton-Based Naturopathic Treatments

Making Strategic Lifestyle Changes

We all know that lifestyle factors like nutrition and exercise play a key role in weight loss efforts. However, it’s not a one size fits all approach. My approach to weight management involves customizing your nutrition and exercise plan by using your body composition analysis to understand your unique needs.

About Body Composition Analysis

The body composition analysis tells me how much body fat, muscle mass and water weight you carry along with where it is all distributed in your body. It also gives me key insights into your metabolism such as your metabolic rate. I can then use these results to precisely deliver a week-by-week nutrition plan that is uniquely adapted to your metabolic rate.

About Meal Plan

Every 1-2 weeks, we have a 15 minute check in visit to ensure that the nutrition and exercise plans are going well or to troubleshoot any concerns you may have. Having this type of accountability has been shown to make a significant difference in your success. At each visit, an updated nutrition plan is given so that you never get bored or run out of delicious, healthy new meal ideas.

The meal plan is designed to specifically support your workout efforts as well i.e. optimizing protein intake and achieving an appropriate balance of macronutrients if your goal is to lose fat mass and build muscle. It’s also important to ensure that other lifestyle factors that can impede weight management are being addressed such as stress levels, poor quality sleep and/or cravings. I take a comprehensive approach to ensure that we leave no stone unturned when it comes to ensuring your success on the weight loss plan. Lastly, I always tell my clients that moderation and balance is key when it comes to finding a plan that we can stick to for life. Even as we make these key lifestyle changes, it’s important to maintain a healthy relationship with food and continue enjoying the foods you love in moderation!

Addressing Underlying Hormonal Imbalances

Another key piece of the puzzle when it comes to weight management is ensuring that we are addressing any underlying conditions and/or hormonal imbalances that may be interfering with your efforts. There are various underlying conditions which may contribute to weight gain including but not limited to: polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), hypothyroidism and perimenopause/menopause.

More About Underlying Conditions & Imbalances

For example, women with PCOS may be more susceptible to weight gain due to insulin resistance which can affect metabolism and make it harder to lose weight. Hypothyroidism may predispose to weight gain for reasons such as a lower metabolic rate, persistent fatigue, changes in appetite and even insulin resistance. Perimenopause and menopause also significantly impact weight gain and body composition because the decline in estrogen leads to a loss of muscle mass and increase in fat mass. Hormonal changes during menopause can also affect hunger cues and insulin levels. Menopausal symptoms like sleep disturbances and fatigue can also contribute to weight gain by leading to increased caloric intake and decreased physical activity.

As you can see, the conversation around weight loss becomes a very nuanced, individualized dialogue around exactly which factors are playing a role in your journey. It then becomes possible to create a plan to overcome any obstacles you may face and set you up for success!

Targeted Exercise Plan
